Poonam Sandhu has been a dancer, choreographer and actor for two decades. Her love of dance started at home with the latest Bollywood tunes and grew to touch both classical and modern dance forms.
Pooonam completed a decade of Indian “filmy” training, along with learning the basics in Bharathnatyam, Kathak, Odissi and Bhangra. In 2001 Poonam was accepted to the Contemporary Dance Program at Simon Fraser University where she trained in Modern and Ballet dance forms five days a week.
Her love of Bollywood took her to Mumbai where she fulfilled a life long dream - dancing with the stars! Poonam appeared in music videos, movies and on stage along side her favourite movie actors including Aishwarya Rai, Shah Rukh Khan, Tabu and Akshay Kumar.
Upon returning to North America Poonam became a choreographer for the multi-award winning Bhangra team, VIBE, and she was selected to be Artistic Director for FootEdge Dance Company. FootEdge most recently performed at the 2010 Olympics and with Russell Peters at the Juno Awards.
Now a resident of the Bay area, Poonam is thrilled to share her dance repertoire with the students of Max Dance Company.
